The historical areas

Area 1

The Civic Museum - The Municipal Library

This area of tourist interest, located at the entrance of city of Chioggia, comprises two sites of historical, archeological and ethnographic  importance:  The Civic Museum of  “San Francesco fuori le Mura” and the “Cristoforo Sabbadino”  Civic Library.

Area 2

The Gate Santa Maria - The Refugium Peccatorum - the Diocesan Museum

This area is located A few steps more to the north of the previous one, proceeding  toward the center of the city. In this area are visitable externally "The port of Santa Maria”, located at the foot of a bridge, and immediately to its left  “Il Refugium Peccatorum”, the outdoor gardens of the Bishop's Curia, that adorn the south side of the Cathedral of Chioggia.

Area 3

The Cathedral of the Longhena - the Romanesque bell tower - the church of S. Martin - San Pieretto and orators of S. Francesco and the Stigmata of Our Lady - S. Francesco old

Around the Cathedral of S. Mary of the Assumption of Longhena, the Cathedral of Chioggia, develops the third area of cultural interest.  Just past the cathedral overlook, on one avenue by which part the Corso del Popolo said Field of the Duomo, the Romanesque bell tower and the church of San Martino, and passing the road, the church of San Pieretto and the oratories of San Francesco to the stigmata and Our Lady.

Area 4

San Giacomo - the church and the oratory of the Reds - the church and the oratory of the Philippines - the church and the convent of Santa Caterina

At the center of the city, where cross the Corso del Popolo and St. James Road, meets the Basilica of San Giacomo. Proceeding up to the little square of the Stendardo, going toward the bridge said “dei Filippini”, we find on the right the church of the SS. Trinity is the oratory of the Rossi, and over the bridge, the church of the Patronage of Blessed Virgin Mary (of the Philippines), with the adjoining oratory. In nearby Calle Santa Caterina, you will find the church and the convent of Santa Caterina.

Area 5

Church of Sant'Andrea and bell tower with clock museum - Palazzo Grassi - the houses of the Palazzo Morosini - small square Vigo - the church of San Domenico

Along the Corso del Popolo we come to the church of Sant'Andrea and the bell-tower with the particular "vertically museum of the clock”. By crossing the bridge "Caneva", along the Riva Vena, it arrives at the prestigious Palazzo Grassi , crossing just before the characteristic chimneys of the lodges of Palazzo Morosini.  Further on along the canal-side we come to the majestic Ponte di Vigo – The Vigo Bridge and, by passing through it, in the Piazzetta Vigo where you can observe the column with the Marciano Lion, the symbol of Chioggia.
